Formby Point Caravan Park nr Liverpool

Today we caught the train from Formby to Liverpool Central at a bargain price of £5.10p.

We walked to the Albert docks and along to where the ferry crosses the Mersey, where we went in the Beatles shop. As we came out it started to rain so we had a drink in the Fab 4 cafe.

We decided to jump on the city sightseeing bus and we went round the whole route enjoying the commentary, and on the second lap we got off and walked up to the Cavern Club. We had a look inside and enjoyed a nice beer whilst listen to someone playing the guitar and singing.

We then caught the bus again as far as the Roman Catholic Cathedral, a beautiful building and stunning inside. We hopped back on the bus and dropped into the Anglican Cathedral which was beautiful in a totally different way.

We caught the bus back to Albert docks and then walked to Chinatown but didn’t fancy any of the restaurants there so walked all the way back to an all you can eat buffet near the station caught the 2038 train back feeling shattered.

Weather not too great again this morning headed off to Speke hall, a National Trust mansion with lovely gardens and a coastal walk. We had a lovely time there made better by glorious sunshine after a miserable morning.

Formby Point Caravan Park nr Liverpool

Raining again today so we had a ride to Southport in the car, by which time it was fine again.

We walked down to the end of the pier and caught the light railway back. There was another shower whilst we were on it but thankfully the last of the day.

We walked around the lake and had a drink in the Lakeside Inn, which is supposedly the smallest pub in England. It was small but inside it was lovely.

We had a wander round town before heading back. We called in at B&M bargains at Ormskirk on the way back

We stopped at Freshfields on the way back to the caravan for fish and chips.

Formby Point Caravan Park nr Liverpool

We decided to get the bikes out today to ride the squirrel trail.

Unfortunately when we got past Freshfield station to the point where we needed to cross the tracks, we found out we couldn’t get any further as it was closed due to someone having been killed a few months earlier.

We retraced our ride back and follow the asparagus tail again.

Formby Point Caravan Park nr Liverpool

We arrived at Formby about 1:30pm. We were all sorted and kettle on by 3:00pm.

Then we went to Tesco to get provisions for the week.

Later we went for a walk to the beach through the sand dunes and a little further on along the beach we came out at FormbyPoint car park where we had a nice ice cream and made our way back to the caravan through the Pine woods.

Just before the gate into the site we spotted red squirrels and went back to the caravan feeling very happy.
